Publishing Pages
In short
Version history stores snapshots each time page content is saved. Open it from the editor toolbar while a page is active, preview an older version, and restore if you need to roll back.

Opening version history

With a page open in the editor, use Version history from the toolbar (or panel flow that opens the history tab). The Pages tree is replaced by a timeline of saves for that page. Close history to return to the current draft.

What each version contains

A version is a content snapshot — the MDX source at save time. It reflects:
  • Block structure and copy
  • Component tags in the MDX
It does not replace site-wide settings, layout registry, or unpublished metadata unless those were saved as part of content operations. Page metadata (title, summary) has its own save path in Page settings.

Preview a version

Select a version to preview how the page looked at that point. Compare against the current draft before restoring.

Restore

Restore replaces your current draft content with the selected version. Your live published snapshot is unchanged until you publish again. After restore:
  • Review in Visual or Source mode
  • Publish if you want visitors to see the restored content

When to use history

  • Undo a large AI or manual edit gone wrong
  • Recover copy deleted hours ago
  • Compare tone before/after a rewrite
For small mistakes, Undo (⌘Z) in the editor is faster.

Limits

History depth depends on platform retention policies. Do not treat version history as long-term backup — export important content or keep duplicates for major releases.

Translation variants

Version history applies to the source-language page you are editing. When the toolbar language switcher opens a translation variant for preview, the history control is hidden — switch back to the default language to browse or restore source versions.
