Segments

What segments are

A segment is a named tag (with optional description) applied to subscribers. Segments are organization-scoped — the same segment can include contacts from multiple sites. Use segments to:

• Target campaigns ("only product updates list")
• Filter the subscriber table
• Auto-tag signups from specific forms

Segments are not separate lists — subscribers can belong to multiple segments.

Managing segments

Audience → Segments lists all segments. Actions:

• New segment — name and description
• Rename / edit — update label or description
• Delete — removes tag from subscribers; forms using it lose the default segment

Deleting a segment does not delete subscribers — only the tag association.

Assigning segments

Filtering by segment

On Audience → Overview, use the Segment filter dropdown to narrow the table. Combine with site and status filters for precise lists.

Campaign targeting

In the Send dialog, after choosing a site audience you can narrow further with Segment — or send to all active subscribers with No segment (all). Recipient count updates live as you change site and segment.

Naming tips

• Use clear names: Newsletter, Product updates, Waitlist
• Avoid duplicating site names unless intentional — site filter already scopes by origin
• Document purpose in the description field for teammates
